Driver licence services at the AA

The AA is contracted by Waka Kotahi NZTA to provide driver licence services at AA Licensing Agents around New Zealand. Learn more about the services we offer:

• Renew or replace your driver licence at an AA Licensing Agent
• Apply for an International Driving Permit to drive overseas
• Convert your overseas licence to a New Zealand driver licence

Important: Driver licence test bookings

Come to your local AA Licensing Agent for all your driver licence needs. At your local AA Licensing Agent you can also:

• Pay all driver licensing fees
• Book and pay for all driver licence tests
• Do the learner licence test
• Have your driver licence photo and signature taken
• Do identity verification for IRD Numbers and RealMe

Important information

If you are booking a driver licence test, please make sure you're prepared for your test.

Wait times for driver licence tests have increased since Waka Kotahi NZTA changed the fees, so make sure you prepare well for your driver licence test. If you don't pass, you may need to wait a while to get another slot. If you get a test booking and can't use it, please make sure you cancel. Even an hour's notice will mean someone else can use the slot.
